Mr. Harper in a Pickle of His Own Making

We've long argued on these pages that when you lay down with the Global Warming monster, you are going to get eaten.

So it is, that in a cynical ploy to stay on side with left of center voters, Mr. Harper's PMO has embraced the Global Warming Hoax ... in word, but only tepidly in deed. Harper fans laud the slippery actions of the PMO as shrewd "chess play" ... meant to keep the wolves at bay while doing nothing.  I prefer to liken his methods to those of a juggler.

I argue that eventually, when sleeping with lions, one is going to get eaten.  In the Global Warming debate, Mr. Harper is now juggling so many balls they are going to start to drop.

We now find Mr. Harper having to do battle with the very forces he has embraced. On the record, he and his administration have decried the horrors of Human Caused Global Warming ... yet in reality, they are now forced to battle the very forces they have sided with:

Canada is threatening a potential trade war with the European Union over its attempts to single out oilsands as a dirtier kind of crude, a revelation that comes just days before a crucial vote on the matter.

Newly released documents reveal David Plunkett, Canada’s new ambassador to the EU, has warned European officials the Canadian government will consider an international trade challenge to fight the bloc’s proposed Fuel Quality Directive (FQD).

We can only hope that America elects itself a conservative president ... and even better, one that turns his back on the AGW hoax. It's too bad we can't expect global leadership from our own PM ... he's too busy juggling.

Meanwhile, the cheer of the day might as well be:

Yes,we CAN hope, but there's about as much chance of your "hope" coming true as there is of politicians actually looking out for their constituents instead of themselves.

We've taught "self" based education in all our schools for the last forty years, and are now reaping the result, elected officials going to the Nation's capitol to join the  "I've got it made"  club.

We peasants are a mere annoyance that have to be considered every four years.

And I KNOW there are exceptions, but the exceptions comprise a smaller percentage of our politicians than the self-interested group, much smaller.

Our educated classes have failed us miserably, though they've served themselves magnificently, and have turned out crops of sociopaths and narcissists at  every graduation. Now,the ranks of all our taxpayer-funded institutions are chock full of these people, and we have to live at their mercy, or lack of it.

The root cause, now there's a favorite Lefty term, has to be dealt with, and that root cause is our education system. We have to start by using a voucher system to enable people to choose the type of school they want their kids educated in,and de-certify teacher's Unions.

Then, and only then, can we start the long road back to becoming the free Country we once aspired to being.

Harper juggles while here in Ontario McGuilty spends on global warming initiatives in the guise of a green economy like there was no tomorrow.
I don't care how smart people think Harper has been to avoid a discussion on global warming. I think he's been dishonest and I don't like what has happened as a result.

Whenever I find myself wanting to trash some politician for 'spinning the truth' , I remind myself of what a famous sage once rightly said ( we just didn't know how 'rightly' that was), namely : "The Truth ? YOU can't handle the truth."

And the sheeple can't as a rule. So even if Harper thinks that the global warming thingy is little more than a cult, in CANADA, you can't get elected saying things like that. So you really do have to say something 'else'. I think he has been very good at foot-dragging on this issue and give him a lot of credit for minimizing the damage that might otherwise have been done. Imagine what Dalton would have done in his place . Ain't THAT scary ?

Harper constantly screws his own base of supporters. He is no fiscal conservative. He definitely is not a social conservative. He flip flopped on energy income trusts and screwed the Calgary based energy sector out of $3 billion dollars. He flipflopped on seniors and OAS. Now he has flip flopped on global warming. The only thing that can be said is that he is not a Liberal. In his heart he seems to still be a Trudeau liberal.

He sucked us Conservatives in and my hate of Liberals does not run deep. I won't vote for Harper ever again.
