Spiteful, Small, Dishonest ... Science

It begins to boggle the mind how anyone familiar with the Climategate 2.0 emails would trust ... even for a fraction of a second, those pushing the farce of Human Caused Global Warming.
Meanwhile, I suspect you’ve both seen the latest attack against his Yamal work by McIntyre. Gavin and I (having consulted also w/ Malcolm) are wondering what to make of this, and what sort of response—if any—is necessary and appropriate. So far, we’ve simply deleted all of the attempts by McIntyre and his minions to draw attention to this at RealClimate.

The Most Powerful Woman in America

Sometimes one must marvel at just how woefully inadequate those who float to the top sometimes are ... unless you judge adequacy by their ability to broker power, country be damned:
It’s about time. Many have wondered—and the Washington Post asked last year—“What, exactly, does Valerie Jarrett do?” No one has a clear answer. Whatever she does, the U.S. taxpayer pays her $172,200 a year to do it. A confidante of the Obamas for more than two decades, variously described as the president’s “closest adviser” and a member of the “innermost ring” of influence, Jarrett clearly has the first couple’s ears. She seems to function as a sort of third party to the Obama marriage, guarding the president and his wife from bad news and outside influence while meeting with Lady Gaga. Her lack of any national political experience whatsoever—she had never been to Iowa before Obama competed there three years ago—has not prevented her from shaping the White House’s political strategy and influencing economic and foreign policies. One might liken her to Don Corleone’s consigliere Tom Hagen, bedecked in a designer shawl, except Hagen gave better advice.
Be sure to read the whole piece. If I fault the writer for anything, it may be in misunderstanding what the Obama's, Jarret, and Chicago are all about. Winning the White House was about getting the keys to the biggest candy store in the world, and now that she has gotten her charges inside, Jarret has spent her time ensuring a luxurious future for herself, for her charges, and for all those whom she owed favors. She won the big prize ... she cares not if the next election is won as long as she's greased the road ahead, win or lose ... country be damned.

Commentators often struggle to describe Obama's politics. Is it Marxist, Supera-National, Socialist, Progressive? They struggle, because they always seek political labels. In reality, the Obama's, as most perfectly demonstrated by Michelle Obama and Jarret, are about serving self. With each "green" business loan, with each traunch of millions or billions of dollars that effortlessly flows into the great "progressive" toilet, Jarret & Company have guaranteed a fabulous existence for themselves and all those they've brought along ... one czar at a time.

Canadian Senate Committee Hears from Climate Realists

You'll need time view this, so choose a moment when "time" is available. Also, keep in mind that it would appear that the vast majority of "experts" to present to the committee have been warmists:

For the hat tip, and for the full session in one clip, go to WUWT. The full clip also includes the Q & A. At the very end comes the classic warmist boiler plate from the Liberal co-chair who claims that the "realist" community is only a tiny sliver of academia ... hog wash of course to those of us who follow the issue.

Of great interest to me, being of Czech background, is the testimony of the Czech scientist ... although his testimony was the weakest because of his poor English, I was struck by a completely non-scientific observation he made.

To paraphrase: When a bandwagon gets rolling you have only two choices ... to be on the wagon, or be the road.

Having experienced the communist regime in the Czech republic, there is no doubt that echoes of that regime are visible to our Czech skeptic (realist) as he surveys what has become the great Global Warming industry. It takes incredible gravitas and integrity to voluntarily be the road.
